The Story Behind BandJAM

BandJAM is built on a proven methodology refined over more than a decade of work in mental health through our founding program, Rock to Recovery®. By facilitating the creation of over 42,000 original songs, we refined a repeatable framework for connection and transformation — across therapeutic, organizational, and performance-based environments.
Our own impact reporting, built with our medical advisor, is rolling out in 2026.

Wes Geer
CEO & Co-Founder
Wes grew up in a household immersed in music, healing, and community. His grandfather was a world-renowned church musical director, his father a physician, and his mother a nurse practitioner. From an early age, it was music, not medicine, that captured his heart.
He taught himself guitar, eventually founding the groundbreaking rock band (Hed) P.E., which sold over 1,000,000 records worldwide. His talent led to joining the legendary rock band KORN as their guitarist, headlining to audiences of over 80,000 people across 42 countries.
Beneath these achievements, Wes battled significant mental health challenges. The turning point came when he discovered how writing and playing music collaboratively could serve as powerful therapy. This realization led him to found Rock to Recovery, which today supports 110+ care programs across the United States.

David Carter
COO & Co-Founder
David Carter is a seasoned tech entrepreneur and venture capitalist, and the Founder & CEO of two technology companies that successfully exited to NASDAQ-listed acquirers. He later co-founded Amplify.LA alongside leaders from William Morris and Disney, followed by Zuma Ventures, where he continues to support and scale innovative companies.
David's path intersected with Wes Geer after attending Rock to Recovery's annual benefit concert at the iconic Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The experience left a lasting impression, deeply moving him and igniting a strong connection to the organization's mission.
After losing a decades-long mentor and close friend to COVID-19, David experienced firsthand the critical need for accessible, effective mental well-being support—particularly within corporate environments, where meaningful solutions remain scarce. Motivated to help expand Rock to Recovery's impact, he connected with Wes to explore new ways to bring collaborative, music-driven healing experiences to a wider audience.
Together, Wes Geer and David Carter co-founded BandJAM, blending technology, music, and purpose to create powerful shared experiences that foster connection and well-being.

The BandJAM Journey
Spurred by their shared vision, David conducted extensive research to validate the efficacy of Rock to Recovery's methods. Convinced of its broad potential and how leveraging proven technology and business models could enable large-scale delivery, David officially joined forces with Wes in 2025 to create and launch BandJAM.
Together, they bring decades of experience in music, wellness, technology, and business—creating a unique approach that makes music accessible to everyone, proving you don't need to be a musician to experience the profound benefits of making music together.
"Music is the universal language that breaks down every barrier. When people create together, something magical happens—and we've built BandJAM to bring that magic everywhere."— Wes Geer & David Carter, Founders
